"I love this book. It is well written, smooth flowing and easy to read. The author did a great job portraying the characters, their emotions and the experiences they went through. Once I started this book I didn't want to put it down. It kept me captivated from the first page through the last.
I love the characters. Alex is a middle aged woman who works in IT at a bank. According to her she's not that pretty and there is nothing special about her. She suffered from a tragic loss as a child and was raised by her Aunt. After a long walk gone bad, she is thrust into a world she was clueless about.
Zach is a very old vampire. He works for the council going on missions taking down rogues and protecting those in need. When he is sent to protect a human named Alex, he has a suspicion there is more than what meets the eye, but he is clueless as to what is really going on.
Watching their characters learn, change and grow is remarkable. It's hard to believe it's the same people at the end of the book that you started the story with. I can't wait to read more of this series to see what will happen to the characters I have fallen in love with. With as much as I love Zach and Alex, I think Duncan is my favorite character so far."

This steady paced plot keeps readers guessing with action, suspense, and romance. The author brings the story to life with vivid descriptions, details and strong compelling characters that the reader has no trouble relating to and that capture the imagination. Zach is overcome with emotions that he doesn’t understand when he comes into contact with Alex but that doesn’t stop him from protecting her and the reader’s can’t help but get caught up in story as Alex learns the truth about her past and what that means to her and Zach.
The chemistry between Alex and Zach is off the charts and the frequent and explicit sex scenes are scorching hot with the romance grabbing the characters by surprise with its vibrant intensity. The other characters in this gripping story are also intriguing and lots of spice to the story with their own romances and situations that evolve during the drama of stopping the demons.
The author engages the reader’s curiosity with the interesting concept of the story and the fascinating characters. The story and characters are believable with well orchestrated events and battles. The fact that the events occur from Scotland to the US also adds something extra to the story and well who doesn’t like to hear alpha werewolves with Scottish accents talk.
I did find that a couple of places during the story seemed to drag a little, but overall I really enjoyed the story and the author made up for it with some surprises that I sure wasn’t expecting and such a smorgasbord of characters to enjoy. - Defender’s Blood Alex’s Destiny is an amazing story and a real find. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time reading Alexina’s story. One Alex was out for a hike in Scotland alone she thought, but the whole time she was being watched by Zach to keep her safe, but he did not know from what and they both were being followed by something very evil. On this night not only did Alex’s world change for every but so did her Vampire Defender Zach. Alex not only had to adjust to being protected by a Vampire who was transporting her to meet the counsel that is the protector of all human and super’s race from Evil; at nearly forty she finds out that the life she knew as a child was different from what she remembered and what she was told by her Aunt Mary. Secrets that were kept from her to keep her safe now have come back to harm Alex and the safety of all. Alex and Zach find that they have a strong connection and they are both puzzled, Zach because he is such an old and powerful Vampire and has never felt this way about anyone; and for Alex she never thought she find love and has a very poor self image of herself one because of her age and two as she put it has extra padding. Don’t be fooled Alex is a strong but kind soul. If you love paranormal mixed with humans and romance, you must put Defenders Blood Alex’s Destiny on your reading list. Trust me you won’t be disappointed. I hope you love this story and Zach and Alexina as much as I do. Thank you A.K. Michaels for another amazing story.

Alex is a middle-aged woman living in Scotland just trying to make it through life when suddenly fate steps in to change everything. Alex knows there are monsters out there, but she hasn't ever seen them up close an in person, it takes a spooky walk in a parking lot for them to start popping up in her life. Alex gets her own guardian, a vampire named Zach to protect her and lead her on her journey. His job is to protect her at all costs, while she needs to save the world before it's too late. Michaels creates a unique world where humans are aware there are vampires, weres and all other matter of beings walking around,they have their own justice system and rules. She elevates this idea and makes it far more tangible leaving out the groupies you see in other vampire novels. I'd definitely recommend this book, it's witty and original, a great mix that'll leave you wanting to grab the next installment.
